Boy Scouts of America – Troop 7

The Eastwood Baptist Church has sponsored a Boy Scout Troop ever since the church’s inception in 1927. Troop 7 was one of the areas oldest troops and is currently under the Hiawatha Seaway Council in the Central New York area. The troop at EBC today is very active and strong, and is currently under the fine leadership of Scoutmaster Edward J. White. Camporees and summer camping activities are regularly attended by the boys and their leaders. The Scouts meet weekly at the Church in Titus Hall on Mondays at 7:00pm for work on projects and good fellowship for all.

The Eagle Rank has been earned by at least 39 young boys, i.e. young men, over the years since inception. In fact we have a beautiful plaque in the rear of the Church sanctuary listing the names of all who earned this most prestigious rank in scouting and indicating the year awarded.
All boys who have achieved this rank, as have many other scouts, have gone on to become very successful citizens of our community and indeed, the whole world. Our scouting program, along with our other church youth groups comprise a well-proven foundation for what has made America truly great.

The Silver Beaver, Scoutings top leadership award, has been presented to at least three past adult leaders associated with this troop for significant accomplishments for, and dedication to, the field of Scouting in Central New York and America.

The Church also sponsors Cub Pack 7 for training of younger boys in advance of joining the Boy Scouts of America. Cub Pack 7 was established in the early 1930’s at this church. Pack 7 meets weekly during the school year.
